Obituary of Alfred Brunger

BRUNGER, Alfred Passed away tragically following an accident, doing what he loved, on September 24, 2016 at the age of 63 years. Survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Joan, his children Elizabeth (Mark) Leonard, Grace (Dave) Jackson and Dan Brunger as well as his cherished granddaughter Heather Leonard. Alfred is also survived by his loving mother Agnes Brurok and sister Marie (Dave) Baer, brothers Bruce (Fern) Brunger and Brian Brunger (Lois Reid) as well as his brothers and sisters-in-law and their families. Predeceased by his father Fred and his step-father Eskel. Alfred was a world renowned solar energy and technical standards expert and he received an award of merit from the C.S.A. He started the Midnight Sun solar car program at the U of W. Alfred enjoyed volunteering his time at Mount Zion Lutheran Church and was quite a handyman. He loved to share his musical talents playing guitar and singing as well as writing poetry. His "to do" list was endless as he loved to keep busy. Alfred's final journey was coming home from his favourite place at the family cottage. Friends are invited to share their memories of Alfred with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 29 Westmount Road South, Waterloo on Thursday, September 29 at 10:30 am with Rev. Philip Mathai officiating. A reception will follow the service and interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
