<h1>Doreen King</h1> 1933 - 2006 Passed away, peacefully after a long battle with cancer at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Monday, October 9, 2006, at the age of 73 years. Loving mother of Susan Monk and her husband Patrick and Jacqueline Dever. Proud grandmother of Richard, Wesley, Andrea and Sarah. Sadly missed by Gloria Clift and John Chernes and their families. Predeceased by her husband, John Arnold King as well as her parents George and Edith Wells. Doreen received the Senior of the Year Award for her volunteer work in various organizations including the Mayor’s Advisory Board on seniors issues, the Rockway Seniors Centre and the Canadian Cancer Society. Doreen was a 25 plus year employee of the IBEW and was a member and friend of the choir at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Friends are invited to share their memories of Doreen with her family at the Erb &amp; Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday, October 12, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Doreen’s life will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on Friday, October 13, 2006, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Val Hennig officiating. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family in the church Parish Hall for refreshments and a time to visit. Following cremation interment will occur in Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.
