Obituary of Kathryn Theresa Solomon

SOLOMON, Kathryn (nee Hickson) Kathryn passed away peacefully in her 90th year at Lanark Heights Long Term Care Kitchener on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Predeceased by her husband Russell (1999); her parents George Hickson Sr. and Theresa (Rellinger); brothers Harry, George, Gordon, Robert and Gerald; sisters Lillian Sievenpiper and Mildred Bews. Kathryn is survived by her daughters Dianne Musselman (Lenny), Barbara Reichert (Ken) and Judy Blackman (Aubyn); her grandchildren Brent Voll (Carli), Cheri Bornais (Darren), Christopher Awender, Barry (Michelle), Sonia and Tasha Blackman; her great-grandchildren Rayne, Ashton and Zoe Awender, Grace and Sophie Bornais, Emma and Lilly Voll and Jayden Blackman. Also survived by her sister-in-law Eileen Hickson as well as her many nieces and nephews. Lovingly remembered by Christine Awender, LeighAnne Voll and David Roth. Kathryn was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 70 years. She worked nearly 20 years at J. M. Schneider and part-time at Jessop Cleaners. She had many interests which included fishing, snooker, bowling, gardening, crossword puzzles and reading. She had a real love of animals, especially dogs. She was always happiest when she received visits from her children and grandchildren. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Kathryn’s faith and life will be held at St. Louis R.C Church 53 Allen Street E, Waterloo on Friday December 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Phil Reilly C.R. officiating. Cremation has already taken place. A reception will be held in the Fireside Room of the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family and may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. Thank you to the wonderful caring staff at Lanark Heights where Kathryn resided for the past year and to the caring staff at St. Mary’s Hospital.
