Edna passed away at 98 years old. Predeceased by husband Cyril Benedict Flannery (Benny) and parents Charles and Elizabeth Wunder. Dear mother to Tim and his partner Glynis Morgan of Elora and Dianna Flannery and her husband Manuel Fernandes of Waterloo. Dear grandmother to Dylan of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Jeremy and Bryan of Waterloo. Also survived by their mother Laurie Flannery. One brother Carl Wunder (Bernice) of Aurora, Ontario survives her. Brothers Jack, Herb, and Gerry predecease her as do her sisters Alice and Margaret. Edna was born in Waterloo. During WWII, she was a member of the Granite Club (now the K-W Figure Skating Club) and produced, organized and skated in several skating shows for the troops and was instrumental in keeping the club going during the War. Prior to moving to Michigan when she married Benny, Edna worked for the Mutual Life Insurance Company. After marriage, Edna moved to the Detroit area and worked for the Great American Insurance Company. She became the first female property and casualty insurance underwriter in the U.S. She also assisted Benny by doing bookkeeping for his business that included an oil agency and bar/restaurant. For a short period of time, she returned to the K-W area in the late 60’s/early 70’s where she and Benny ran Tim’s Sport Shop together. Upon returning to Novi, Michigan in 1972, she assisted Benny in several real estate development ventures. In the Novi community, she was involved in United Way and was instrumental in fundraising for the local high school band program. After Benny’s death, she returned to the K-W area to reside with her family. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews and her canine buddies Pepper and Ana. The family would like to thank Trinity Village for its exceptional care of Edna during her last few years.
