Barry was one of a kind - we had such fun together - especially during our ski trips to Whistler with his dear uncle Allen. Always direct, kind, funny, and generous and one of the most interesting men I've ever known or dated. For a few years we would talk on the phone almost every night - he in his hot tub - discussing life, work, and most often the workings of men's and women's minds. We both enjoyed very direct and honest conversation - and yes he was the king of straight talk - one of his many great qualities. We are both horse, dog and cat lovers - glad Merlin is still at your side.
Remembering you always Barry - it's not good bye from any of us, just 'see you later'.
Heartful wishes to his family and special big hugs to his Uncle Allen Aylward.
Shane

I have had the pleasure working with Barry on the phone for more than 15 years. Many discussions in years past about BTO and Rush! He was good soul and could be blunt when he needed to be! He will be sadly missed by those he touched in some way! My prayers are with you.

I had the pleasure of meeting Barry only a few times. Barry had done work on two of my aircraft and I was trying to get in touch with him for another project when I heard that he had passed away. Barry was a bright intelligent person who made a lasting positive impression on me and I was totally shocked and saddened when I heard that he had passed away today. I wish his entire family well.
Warmest Regards, Wayne Conrad

My heart aches with the pain of loosing such a great friend and a greater man. You never had to wonder where you stood with Barry because he would tell you. A blunt honesty some took offense to but what everyone should have respected. Our industry will suffer for his absence and he will forever be remembered as my friend.

To all of Barry's Family, my most sincere sympathy on Barry's way-too-early passing. I remember during my first meeting with him in his office noticing the framed piece on his wall which said "Simplify". It said so much about what proved to be true in every aspect of his life. Despite his great depth of character, Barry was simply a really great friend to so many of us. He is already greatly missed.

Barry, it was a pleasure knowing you ever since meeting you at my first AEA convention. Future conventions will sorely miss your charm & sarcastic wit as well as the true loss of your avionics acumen. It was good chatting with you again in New Orleans a few weeks ago and I will truly miss your friendship going forward.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Barry. He was a true force of nature. I was fortunate to work with Barry and his team at Kitchener Aero and Mid Canada Mod Centre. He always treaded me with respect and always had time to have a friendly chat or debate a work related issue. Barry was an avid supporter of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Lancaster and in fact he and I sat side by side to watch the premier of "Reunion of Giants:. Without Barry's assistance with the avionics in VERA she would have never made the trip to the UK.
You and your indomitable spirt will be missed Rest In Peace

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Barry for over two decades, and his contributions to his industry and community are immeasurable.
He had a unique capability to separate the noise from the signals in life, and get straight to the heart of any issue.
I cannot yet comprehend the extent of his loss in this world, but the Heavenly Hosts are in for a real treat.
My sincerest condolences go to his family and loved ones. Thank you for sharing him with us all!

I have known Barry for about 30 years thru AEA and the aviation world. Yes, Barry always had something to say about most everything. Barry had some "hard bark" on him too! But after I got to know Barry he was a great guy and a great friend full of compassion and concern. I recall one year at AEA convention, Barry and I spent over an hour talking about my health and how I was doing and then he shared with his health issues and concerns. I will remember as one of my best times spent with Barry, caring and concerned.
I will miss Barry.
My thoughts and prayers will be with Barry, family and friends.
God bless!

Barry was a dear friend that my wife, Michelle and I will greatly miss. His contributions to the avionics industry as a whole and in Canada in particular cannot be understated and we are all better off thanks to his efforts.
There was never a question of who Barry was as a person. If you were unsure, he was the first to let you know. His openness and candor is in some ways what defined him, in my opinion at least, and why I was drawn to him as a friend.
He was a part of our wedding and we were blessed by his and Susan's presence. We miss him greatly and are thankful for having him as a part of our life for as long as we did.

Tracy and I are deeply saddened by the passing of Barry and express our sincere sympathy to his family.
Barry and I have a long history together in the avionics industry. He has been an inspiration to me with his unwavering commitment to always doing what was right even when it disagreed with status quo and especially when it disagreed with Transport Canada or the FAA.
His commitment to always look for ways to improve the avionics industry and help others in the business was extraordinary. Barry always had an opinion and he was never afraid to share it. Thing was, he was almost always right.
Barry was so much more than a leader in the avionics world he was also a very dear friend. I will never forget his generosity and always cherish his guidance in business and in life.
God Bless you my old Friend. You are truly missed.

I was so saddened to hear of Barry's passing last week. He will surely be missed by many of us who not only knew him in the aviation business but as a friend as well.
Barry was a mentor to me. He was always willing to take time to share his knowledge and experience. You always knew where you stood with Barry and he would tell it like it is - openly, honestly, and directly. Great characteristics that are somewhat difficult to find in today's world.
Most importantly, I will miss our conversations about life, family, and music. Barry was truly one of a kind and words cannot express how much he will be missed.
