1944 - 2017

At her Waterloo residence just before noon on April 14, 2017 at the age 72 years, Maureen was lovingly guided to the light with family and Pastor Ben Cassels of Kitchener Waterloo United Mennonite Church by her side. Supportive and loving mother of Daniel James Martin (Maureen) of Waterloo and Rachel Anne Dodds of Mississauga. Caring grandmother to Brandyn and Dylan Martin. She will be sadly missed by her brother Patrick Hannon (Vivian) and her sister Mary Straus (Murray). Maureen will also be remembered and missed very much by her partner Ron Drake and his family. Predeceased by her parents James and Kathleen Hannon. Maureen was a dedicated member of The Royal Canadian Legion where she enjoyed spending time playing pool and shuffleboard. At Maureen’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #50, 525 Belmont Avenue, Kitchener, ON on Saturday, May 13th, 2017 from 1-5 p.m. The family is requesting any flowers for Maureen's celebration be mums of any colour, to not only honour Daniel and Rachel's mother, but all attendees’ mothers both in spirit and person. Donations for Veterans Confined to Hospital in the form of personal and oral hygiene effects (13 of each and unscented where applicable) can be brought to Branch 50 Legion for their next visit to the veterans. The family wishes to honour the outstanding care provided by the Kitchener Waterloo Palliative Care Team.
