Obituary of Michael Schelling

was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Forest Heights LTC, Kitchener at the age of 84.

Survived by his beloved wife, Lilli (Mohr), his children Christine (Andrew) Weidmann, Robert (Tracy) Schelling and his cherished grandchildren Eric and Coryn Schelling and Thomas and Nicholas Weidmann. Michael will also be remembered by his dear brother Martin (Marie) Schelling, nephews and nieces and also his cousins in Germany.

Predeceased by his parents, John and Maria Schelling, brother, John Schelling, sister, Maria Schubert and brother in law, Albert Schubert.

Michael was born in Haidendorf, Transylvania, Romania on November 23, 1932. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 with his brother, John and worked in Pembroke. Michael later moved to the Kitchener area, where he worked at Krug furniture. He married Lilli in 1972 and together, they began an upholostery business. Michael loved his family and enjoyed his garden and hobby farm.

The family of Michael would like to thank the nursing and personal support staff at Forest Heights Long Term Care that assisted Michael in the last years of his life.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Michael with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 2 – 4 p.m. & 7 – 9 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 10 – 10:45 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Reception to follow in the funeral home’s fireside room. Interment at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener.
