Obituary of William Henry Plate
Passed away at home on August 13, 2017 at the age of 85 years.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara in 1995. He is survived by his daughter Pat Plate of Waterloo and son Bob (Golnaz) Plate of Oakville as well as his grandson Aiden Plate.
Bill grew up in Brantford and attended St. John’s College. He worked for Dominion Stores in both Toronto and Winnipeg and was eventually transferred to Kitchener/Waterloo in 1983. The business was taken over by Loblaws and during his career Bill was instrumental in employing and advancing the careers of many local individuals. He was an avid reader, artist and was a car enthusiast. Bill will be remembered by his family as a gentle, stable influence always giving good advice when needed.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Bill with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, August 17 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment will take place at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
