James Moore

Obituary of James Wesley Moore

Passed away at his residence on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at the age of 57.

Beloved son of the late Derryl and Doreen Moore. Loving Papa of Kira and Marcus. Loved brother of Cathy and her husband Robb, Trish and her husband Stephan, and Sandy and her husband Rick. Dear uncle of Jesse, Cory and his wife Renée, and great-uncle to Cohen. Jim will also be fondly remembered by his long time friends Kevin, George and Sue.

Currently a Defence Scientist, Jim graduated with a PhD from MIT and subsequently served with the Government of Canada in the Department of National Defence, for almost 30 years. Jim’s interest in all things military began at a young age when he joined the local Highland Fusiliers. He was an avid reader with a substantial personal library of books to feed his insatiable interest in current and historical global and political issues.

He satisfied his artistic nature, by playing the piano and the penny-whistle. He wrote and performed his own songs. Jim followed in his father and his grandfather’s footsteps as an occasional square dance caller. Jim also enjoyed live theatre and participated as an actor with the Elmira Theatre Company, and in community theatres in the Ottawa and surrounding area. Jim was an animal lover with a special love for chihuahuas.

The lights of his life were his two cherished children, Kira and Marcus, whom he doted on. Jim will be missed by his family and his many friends.

A Reception will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. Special memories of Jim will be shared at 3:00 p.m.
