Roy Williams

Obituary of Roy Clarence Williams

Roy passed away peacefully at Innisfree House Hospice in Kitchener on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the age of 88.

Roy was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather and great-grandfather (affectionately known as “Chief” by some of his grandchildren), and will be forever missed by all of his family and friends.  He owned and operated Williams Appliance Service and continued a successful career in the appliance industry.  Roy was an avid fisherman who loved every opportunity to be outdoors with family and friends.  If he wasn’t catching fish, his stories made up for it.  Roy was a long-time member of Calvary Memorial United Church in Kitchener.

Roy was predeceased by his loving wife Doreen (nee Frey) in 2004, parents Stewart and Mary Williams (nee Watson), sister Ruth Schweitzer (Stan), brother Glen, and grandfather Homer Watson.

Loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather of Heather and John Flanagan and their children Trevor (Kasia), Stephanie (Tim) and their children Jaydah, Keagan, and Lilyan, Brent (Rebecca) and their daughter Norah, Shawn (Jess), and Scott (Vanessa); Shelley and Brian Leis and their daughters Christine (Don) and Jessica (Justin); Dan and Lorri Williams and their children Evan (Taylor), Tyler and Katelynn.  Roy is also survived by his brothers Bill (Lois), Bruce (Kathy) and step-mother Emily Finney.

Roy’s family will receive relatives and friends at Calvary Memorial United Church, 91 Gruhn Street (at Glasgow Street), Kitchener on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.  A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Lynne Bandy officiating and a reception will immediately follow in Calvary’s Kellerman Hall.  A private family interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, Kitchener will follow the reception.

A special thank you to all the staff at Innisfree House for your wonderful, loving care.  Condolences for the family and memorial donations to Innisfree House Hospice may be arranged by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
