Obituary of Honor Delia Hachborn

Passed away peacefully at the IOOF Seniors Homes, Barrie on Monday October 23, 2017, in her 94th year.

Beloved wife of the late Ernest George Hachborn (2011). Loving mother of Andrew Hachborn (Karen) of Newmarket, and Malcolm Hachborn (Frances) of Barrie. Dear grandmother of Filipe (Victoria), Eryc, Danielle, Ellen, Nicole, Amanda, and Gillian. Also survived by her sister Sheila Brackley, of Dersingham, England. Will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Diana Whinney, Giles Brackley, Diann Lutz, Debra Rank, Cameron Price and their families.

Honor was born in King's Lynn, Norfolk, England on September 18, 1924 to parents Thomas and Ella Chapman (nee Moores), of Hunstanton, England.

She spent her childhood in Hunstanton, Stoke Ferry and Bishop's Stortford, England, before setting off to travel in her twenties as a stewardess for Trans World Airlines. She worked for the Zinc Corporation in Broken Hill, Australia for five years at the end of WWII, before emigrating to Canada in 1953, where she married Ernest and raised her family in Conestogo for 58 years. Honor was very involved in the Boy Scouts of Canada, United Church and the Women's Auxiliary of the Grand River Hospital for over 30 years.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Honor with her family during a memorial visitation at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 131 Flax Mill Drive, Conestogo on Sunday November 5, 2017 from 12 to 12:45 p.m. Following the visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Honor's life will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Monika Wiesner officiating. Interment to follow at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Cemetery and a reception in the church hall.
