Obituary of Hugh Alexander Duncan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Hugh Alexander Duncan on January 11, 2018 at Hospice Wellington surrounded by the love of his family. Hugh was in his 90th year, a longtime resident of Bloomingdale and retired millwright from J.M. Schneiders.

Beloved husband and best friend of the late Joyce (nee McAllister), his wife of 55 years and Ruthe Patterson. Hugh was adored, treasured and will be greatly missed by his children Nancy Boudreau and her husband Gary, Carolyn Duncan, and Bruce Duncan and his wife Judy. Sadly missed by his precious grandchildren, James, Brad and Brittany (Brad), Kayla and Krista as well as his great-granddaughters, Brooke and Alexis.   

Hugh was predeceased by his brother Neil and leaves behind his sister Marion Anderson and sister-in-law Kathleen Dahmer and their families. He will also be missed greatly by his Patterson step-family.

Hugh left a legacy of love, kindness and care for his family and friends. In his quiet way he helped anyone in need. He had a talent for repairing almost anything on Earth but pancreatic cancer was more than he could fix.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Hugh with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 6-8. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior.  Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room.
