Planning for our future:
Erb & Good Family Funeral Home is moving!
Change is on the horizon for the location of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home and we want to update you on what is coming and answer a few questions we expect you might have.
After almost 80 years serving the families of the Kitchener-Waterloo community from our current location on King Street South, Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, is preparing to move to a new facility. We have acquired a property, on Victoria Street North for the development of a new home for our business.
While the move isn’t yet imminent, the process is well under way, with construction plans nearing completion. While our King Street property is sold for redevelopment, there will be no interruption in Erb & Good’s services. We will continue to serve, as always, in our current location, until the new facility is up and running.
We recognize the deep connection many of you share with our King Street location. After extensive study and reflection, we have concluded that the most responsible and forward-looking step is to develop a new, custom-designed facility, one that is fully equipped to meet the present and future needs of our community.
Why do we need a new building?
We know that, like us, many of you feel a deep attachment to our King Street building. It has been our home for many years, and we recognize the memories and meaning it holds for our community. However, after many years of thoughtful consideration and study, we have concluded that the very best choice, for both us and those we serve is to move forward with a new, single level custom-designed building that is better equipped and situated to meet the evolving needs of our community and our profession, today and into the future.
King Street has served us well, but it is an aging home, challenging and costly to maintain, and even more so to renovate. It’s simply no longer as well suited to the needs of those we serve as it once was.
We want to ensure we have the flexibility to adapt and continue meeting the changing needs of families, while also maintaining the traditional types of services that bring comfort to so many. A custom-designed facility offers the best way to achieve this. It allows us to create a space that supports both innovation and tradition in a way that is cost-effective and sustainable. Most importantly, it will allow us to remain affordable for the families who rely on us and continue to provide meaningful employment for our dedicated team within this community we’re proud to call home.
Why are we moving?
We Are Moving To Better Serve Our Community. To continue to support the families of Waterloo Region, we are relocating to a more accessible and multipurpose space. Our current location does not allow us to create a fully accessible, single-level environment while continuing to serve families effectively. This move will help us provide a more inclusive, welcoming, and functional space for everyone we support.
What's next?
We are putting a great deal of time into designing our new funeral home, approaching every detail with care and precision. While our plans are progressing quickly, we’re not quite ready to share the specifics yet. The move is expected in late 2026 or early 2027.
We want our community to know that we are here today and will continue to be here in the future. Our daily operations will carry on as they have for the past 79 years.
We deeply value our community and the thousands of families who have trusted us with the care of their loved ones. Because you are such an important part of our story, we are committed to keeping you informed as our plans progress. Above all, we promise to always be here when you need us, and our care and service will never be compromised as we make these changes.
