We are so sad to hear of Steve's passing. We will fondly remember sharing Thanksgiving with Steve and Betty at our cottage on Silver Sands Lake. Steve was very much the the life of the party with his jokes and stories about his colourful life. Our sincerest condolences to Betty and the rest of Steve's family. Rysia & Martyn

I remember when I met Uncle Steve as a teenager. Perhaps not the best impression I could make. Uncle Steve and I would often laugh about that when me and my husband would visit. I moved to Ontario in 1990 and both my Aunt Betty and Uncle Steve opened their hearts and home to me. I will remember the memories of my Uncle Steve dancing at family weddings from the time it started to the last dance, enjoying swimming in our pool and sharing stories of his life in Grimsby as a young man, his journey in broadcasting and life he built with my Aunt Betty who he would say to me that she was a wonderful 'gal' and he was lucky to be with. My thoughts, prayers and love to you Aunt Betty.

Dear Betty: It was on the Island of Barbados that we became friends - and knew the first time I saw Stephen I thought - "I had seen him before" -- then he told us that he had worked at CKCO TV. Steve was a very interesting gentleman - and we cherish the many good memories we have of both Stephen & Betty. God's Blessings to you Betty as you adjust. Love Bill & Gloria

Steve was ,perhaps, one of the loveliest fellows I met during my 40 year career in broadcasting. We were fellow reporters during my stint at CKCO-TV before moving my family to Vancouver. I have nothing but the best memories of Steve who had a terrific sense of humour and always took time to listen to others. He was a charmer. Our condolences to Betty to whom Steve was so devoted.

What a lovely and interesting man. I first met Steve when I started with CFCA radio in Kitchener in 1984 He and Betty were kind and friendly to both Diana and I. I even bought his old Buick Station wagon because I knew it would be immaculately cared for. our condolences to the family

Very saddened to hear that Steve has passed away. Although I did not work with Steve directly, he was always cheerful and friendly whenever I chatted with him. My deepest condolences to his family.

I can still see Steve and Betty dancing to the steel drums, by the pool, at the manager's cocktail party in Barbados. Betty, Ed and I are very sorry for your loss. We know how devoted you were to each other and how you took such good care of him during the last few year. He was a wonderful man and "un bon ami". We share in your sorrow.

As a young reporter starting out in news broadcasting, I remember Steve Hooper as a very patient, kind, and generous co-worker. During weekend shifts in the "radio corner" of the CKCO newsroom, Steve would regale us with fascinating stories from his past, and at times had us doubled over with tears of laughter. It was such an honour to have Steve and Betty at our wedding in 1984. RIP Steve.
