Mr. and Mrs. Langen (Rob and Ruth) were like extended family to us. I have so many fond memories of Christmases spent visiting the Langens, as a child and later as an adult, and summers seeing them at the cottage or at their farm. I always looked forward to these visits, Mrs. Langen's delicious cooking, her sweet nature, how she always found ways to keep me entertained (I was the only child there). Mr. Langen was equally warm, kind, and welcoming - and always had new things to show us on the farm. My memories and reflections of him are as a wise and gentle man.
Though I hadn't seen Mr. Langen in the last several years, my mother, who often spoke to him on the phone, always commented on how sharp and witty he still was, even in his 100's. And I am blessed to have had the chance to speak with Ruth, just last summer, on the phone.
I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family on behalf of my mother Helen as well, who passed shortly before Robert, and my late brother John.
Truly, this is celebration of life, for both Rob and Ruth. They were remarkable people who were loved by many and will live on in our memories. I am so glad they were part of our lives.
