Nick and my dad shared the same horrible disease, but they also shared something greater - the love of family, and pride for their accomplishments in who they became. That can never be erased. I remember my sister telling me that the Hammer kids had chocolate cake for breakfast. I was so jealous and thought the parents were awesome!! Well, they were awesome but not because of the cake thing. They were just great people and wonderful neighbors.

I know alot of people knew my dad through me and my family. He was the most unselfish person I ever knew (along with my mother Christine). It was so unfortunate that dementia took him prisoner. As we watched this nasty disease take over it was hard hard to watch him leave us but still a healthy body. I send special thanks to everyone at Pinehaven Long Term Care and then Winston Park Long Term Care for doing such an exceptional job of taking care of my dad. I will miss him so much but I am happy that he is not suffering anymore and in a better place. Goodbye Opa I love you forever.
