I was Esta's Insurance Broker & am saddened to hear of her passing. Within the last 2 years we spoke several times on the telephone regarding her policy. She had a great sense of humor and I always loved chatting. She invited me into her home near Christmas 2024 & made sure to send me back to the office with lots of Christmas goodies. I will miss our chats. She was a lovely lady & with speaking with her Nephew's, I've learned her & her husband Colin lived a great life together. Rest on, Esta!

Stacey Brohman-Way She was a remarkable lady and still recognized me for years when we would bump into one another at Zehrs. She knew every one of us by name — what a gift. Godspeed! Sandy Trojansek I’m so sorry to hear that she passed away. She was so lovely! Sally Fowler-Izzio I was never afraid to get a late slip from her. She was always so cheery. Kim Heldman - Ropp I definitely remember her. Rest in peace Lisa Palmer The loveliest lady whose sweet Irish voice over the PA was music to our ears…we were all “dearie” or “love” to her. Mrs. Mckinley was one of a kind. Annette De Dieu Dietrich She was a gem! Wanda Cakebread I will always remember her beautiful smile and calm way she dealt with situations….pranks, bomb threats etc. Joan Grundy Esta was one of a kind in all the best ways. I will never forget her hanging up the phone when someone called in a bomb threat back in the mid 80’s at St. David’s. Weeks later she told me about the phone call and said I just said to them “we don’t have time for these shenanigans” and hung up on them. Oh, the good old days! Sarah Collins Joan Grundy I also remember this hang up! An amazing woman. Nick Roehrig Not sure but doubtful that a story like that would be made public. If it had I am quite sure I would have heard about it from some parents re the danger of doing something like that. I did inform the board and the police as per board policy. Stacey Brohman-Way I think it’s safe to say we heard it from the person on the other end of that phone call Cathy Ann In my few years at St David she was always a light. Full of life! A strong determined lady with a mind of her own. Generous and honest. May she rest in peace Kris Alysha Oh Mrs. Mckinley was great. Always so friendly, efficient & good humoured. Edit: interesting fact in obituary too, she had 14 nephews! Chris N. Roehrig I have such great memories of Esta - rest in peace, Mrs. McKinley. The woman could love you and spank you in the same sentence without wasted energy while answering the phone and directing someone else toward the exit door. I could only wish to have half of that skill set. I adored her. I’m sorry to hear that she passed but I’m toasting a life well lived. Cheers, Esta. Michael G. Redfearn Esta was the first person I met as I walked into the main office at St. David HS in 1987. Her warmth, wit and Irish humor made a lasting impression on me and countless students, teachers, parents and other visitors as they also entered the main office. For a number of years and many people, Esta was the 'welcoming smiling face' of St. David, a truly wonderful celtic ambassador. Well done good and faithful servant. May you now rest peacefully in the loving arms of your beloved. Stephanie Choquette Mrs McKinley was the absolute best! Such a beautiful soul. My deepest condolences to the McKinley family. Nick Roehrig We all have stories about Esta's wit and forthrightness. One morning I arrived and she told me that we had a bomb threat. I asked her if she followed the board policy at the time which was to notify the board and the police. She said no that she told the person to "get a job" and hung up. Nick Roehrig love it remarkable woman! What a lovely photo! I remember her in the office! Karen York Kueneman Esta was such a lovely woman! I remember as a teen having to occasionally phone my dad at work. Esta would answer the main phone line and we would always have a lovely chat first. Often we would chat and Esta would say “well you have a wonderful day love” and hang up before I had a chance to ask to speak to my dad Karen Casemore Kestner Loved working with Esta! She certainly kept the office inline with her directness, Irish whit and humour. Not much got by her. Rest in peace lovely lady Elaine Shea Loved Esta. A great lady for sure

Esta was such a classy, lovely caring lady. She kept everyone at St. David in line, staff and students alike and didn’t tolerate any shenanigans. We all loved her beautiful Irish voice on the PA for morning prayer, which she sometimes cut short if it got too long. She called everyone dear or dearie, and was like our Irish mother . Met her at Zehrs often and she was still as sharp ,fun and witty as ever. You were a true blessing to us all Esta. We will miss you. Sincerely, Gail Schnurr
