Dear Doug, Bruce, Carolyn and families, I know your Mom’s been gone for almost a year, but I only just recently found out. Your Mom and I stayed in touch by very occasional email for a number of years after your Dad passed away, but we lost contact over the last several years. Your parents both meant so much to my family. My parents loved them both very much. We kids loved it when they would come to visit, both in Ottawa and at Heney Lake. As children, we also loved our chances to visit your family in Kitchener. I hope always to remember your Mom’s smile, her laughter and her joy in the company of others. Sending you my condolences and best wishes for lasting happy memories.

Dear Mutton family, We are so sorry for the loss of your dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother. We have so many warm memories of Marion over the years. Marion and Dick were long time good friends of my parents (Jim and Alice Huras). They were in the same bridge club. Our families often got together for social events. I remember fun times at their house, Belwood Lake and Red Bay. Marion often brought her famous banana cake. I have her recipe and think of her whenever I make it. Marion was so thoughtful and supportive. She was especially kind and comforting to us when we lost our first baby. She shared with us their deep grief when they lost a child too. We hold you all in our thoughts and prayers for God’s comfort and peace. Love and hugs, Brenda and Steve

The Chambers family were fortunate to know Marion and Dick for our entire childhood and much of our adulthood. They were role models of caring for others as one's primary purpose in life. Marion would tell me later in life that she learned this from her Mother, who cared for her Mother and others. As children, Marion touched our lives in her volunteer leadership of Explorers and Sunday School. Her brave advocacy for LG rights in the United Church in 1988 fundamentally touched the lives of members of our family. The most important piece of wisdom that Marion imparted to me, when I was a working Mother, was that she only cleaned the house when company was coming. So once a month she would invite company so the house would get cleaned. This bit of wisdom, freed me up from the social standard that my house had to be perfect at all times. It gave me freedom to focus on people instead. So many times I said to myself over the years, "if it is good enough for Marion Mutton, it is good enough for me. Loss and life brought my Father and Marion together. What faith to marry at 82! They had had their great loves but were not ready to give up on life. Together, as new companions, they had new adventures and travels. It was easy to welcome Marion into our family and she of course, generously welcomed us. I and my family were blessed for over 50 decades by this wonderful woman, and I and my family send love and prayers of support to her children and grandchildren.

I was so sorry to hear about Marion’s passing. She was such a remarkable person, and her love for her family and community was evident in everything she did. I had the pleasure of knowing her from Maplewood Place as a kind and welcoming neighbour. At a young age, our children were warmly welcomed to swim in her backyard pool, creating cherished memories that we hold dear. Over time, that kindness came full circle as our daughter eventually became a lifeguard—a testament to the supportive and neighbourly environment Marion helped foster. We will always be grateful for how Marion and Dick welcomed us into the neighbourhood with such warmth and generosity. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the beautiful memories of her life well-lived. With heartfelt condolences, Mark and Brenda

Marion was such an amazing person, a pillar of strength and truly made a difference in the lives of those that were lucky enough to know her. We are sharing your sorrow and for all you are going through now and the days ahead, we are wishing the family strength and peace. We are heading South tomorrow so will not be able to attend the funeral but will be watching it on the live stream. Sending our deepest sympathy and big hugs. Lynda and Gregg

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Mutton's passing. I knew her when I was a kid living across the street from her family on Maplewood Place. She was always so calm and kind and many years later when my wife Rosie worked at Pine Haven Nursing Home, I learned of her volunteer work with the elderly residents there. Years ago we drove up Maplewood and Marion was outside so we stopped to speak with her, she remembered me immediately. She invited us in and we sat in her backyard fondly recalling my childhood on the street. Her and Dick never gave any of the neighbourhood kids grieve for running through their yard playing "kick-the -can" My mother always spoke kindly of The Muttons and they were well respected neighbours. My condolences to Doug, Bruce and Carolyn. Al & Rosie Caton
