I was saddened today to learn that John had passed on. He was such a big part of my musical life in the Scarborough Bel Canto Choir. I hold so much love and respect for him as a leader, and genuinely kind and caring gentleman. Evelyn, you were one of John’s best assets…you were a couple made for each other. Please accept my heartfelt condolences, to you and to all of your extended family.

John was a long-time member of the Pickering Community Concert Band. In addition to playing the oboe, he served as an assistant conductor and contributed greatly through his writing and arranging of music for the band. Although John has not been with us for several years, he is remembered with great fondness. He and Evelyn were cherished and constant members of the PCCB community for many years. In tribute to John, the PCCB will be making a donation to one of his chosen charities. Music for Life, and God bless. With fond remembrance, your friends at the PCCB.

I believe John may have been a actor in a play my father wrote called Markham Street in 1969 when I was 12 years old. Can anyone confirm that? Bob Vienneau

Growing up, I always felt my great-grandpa was the coolest person in any room he entered. He was musically inclined and talented in so many different ways it was mind blowing. He had a warm British accent that could make anyone stop and listen. He will forever be missed, my condolences to my nana and papa as well as everyone in the family.
