My name is Willy Fleras. I was a member of the Scholtes band (accordian) from 1965 to 1967. Wally would pick me up every week after school and drive me to the family farm in West Montrose for rehearsals. Even though I was only 14 years old (and Wally was 21), he treated me with respect - as an equal. We became very close, playing every Saturday in dance halls and clubs across southern Ontario. Wally was an amazing musician who truly loved his craft. I recall drawing the ire of his father when we would jazz up the playing of O Canada! Even though it has been 50+ years since we last met, I was very sad to read of his passing. My deepest sympathies to his family. The memories will never fade.
