Our family was shocked and saddened to learn of Chuck’s death. One and all remarked how much we liked him and even though we were not in close contact all the time, our encounters were always very appreciated. Chuck, as we called him, was a rather self–effacing person but at the same time exhibiting character, strength and a sense of humour. Born to Charlie and Irene as a late life miracle and much loved son whom they supported in all his endeavours, he was beloved by his Oma, Alfreda Hoffman Heft. Our family, his uncle Henry Heft, wife Joy and children Tara, Rachel and Tristan were part of his younger life when we made regular visits to Oma and the rest of the family. We all have enduring memories of those times that are part of our family heritage. Our most recent contact with Chuck was a few years ago when he, Kersten and Jackson visited Ottawa and we hosted them for a meal, a very pleasant encounter. Little did we know it would be our last visit with Chuck. Though unable to attend the celebration of his life, we will be present in prayer and in spirit.
We send our sincere condolences to Kersten, Lukas and Jackson from our family.
