I was so very sorry to learn that Brenda's time with family and friends has run its course. Brenda and I met in grade nine and became Mount Mary buddies. We had good times during high school, visited each other’s homes outside of school, and maintained a thread of connectedness even through the "busy" years. Sixty amazing years of sharing and caring through both good and tough times! We last lunched with Mary Margaret and Marcia, the other members of our long-term Mount Mary quartet, in August 2025. As A. A. Milne wrote in Winnie-the Pooh, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” Saying goodbye is hard, indeed, and I was lucky to have Brenda as my friend. Until we meet again, may God hold her in the palm of His hand.

Dear John and family, I am deeply saddened by the death of my dear friend Brenda. Please accept my heartfelt condolences to all of you. We shared many happy times during university in the BScN programme at McMaster, and were each other’s special bridesmaid, as you know, John. Along with some other classmates, we entered our first nursing experience at the Hamilton General Hospital in the ICU and CCU and enjoyed the intensity of this high paced level of care. As life became increasingly busy, and we got married to each others best friend, we eventually lost touch. I regret this very much now that she is gone. My husband died tragically last June 30th. The journey of grief has been tough for me, but necessary in this path of life. May your faith sustain you all as you learn to go on without her physical presence, but she will always be with you. My heartfelt condolences to John, Rob, Breanne, Jeff and family. I enjoyed working many years with Brenda at the Hamilton General Hospital in the cardiac program. Her dedication, caring, and kindness touched many lives. I feel grateful to have known her and to have shared those years working together, and especially grateful that we remained in touch in retirement.
