Leasa Cloes

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Leasa Cloes (nee Girodat), passed away with her family by her side on Friday, May 28, 2021, at the age of 58 years, following a 5 ½ year battle with cancer.

Leasa will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 36 years, Mark; her children: Jennifer Robertson (Steven), Donna-Marie, Christopher, and Valerie; granddaughter Ellie Robertson; parents Glen and Donna Howling of Listowel; sisters Bernadette Huberts (Harry) of Listowel, and Janette Searle (Ian) of Edmonton. Brother-in-law Neil Cloes (Jean) of Harriston, sister-in-law Cheryl Shody (Paul) of Kitchener, brother-in-law Paul Cloes of Waterloo, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Christopher and sister Annette.

Leasa was born in October 1962 and was a graduate of Eastwood Collegiate. Leasa worked as a police dispatcher for the OPP in Kitchener for three years, where she met the love of her life, Mark, who was working nearby in Wellington County. After a short whirlwind romance, they were married in 1984.

The simplest pleasures in life brought immense joy to Leasa. She loved spending her afternoons with friends and family, often with a glass of wine in hand. Leasa loved travelling, especially with the company of friends or family, leading to her adventures in 23 different countries around the world throughout the past 9 years. Never one to shy away from a challenge during her adventures, she enjoyed ziplining, horseback riding, driving dune buggies, whale watching in a catamaran, kayaking, and snorkelling.

Leasa was a glass half full gal, always finding the silver lining through the darkest clouds. This perspective on life continued through the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in February 2016, when Leasa refused to give up. She continued to travel and spend time with family until the world closed due to Covid in the spring of 2020. With Leasa’s death, heaven has truly gained another angel.

At the request of the family, a small private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to Hospice Wellington may be arranged by contacting Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.

Many thanks to Dr. DiCarolis and all of the staff at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, as well as the staff at Hospice Wellington for all the love and kindness they surrounded Leasa with throughout her stay.
