Peacefully, in the presence of his family, at the Village at University Gates, Waterloo, on Saturday, September 4, 2021, in his 85th year.
Desmond was predeceased in 2015 by his wife of 50 years, Jane Eyre Hemming. Loving father to Lynda Hemming and her husband Brett Nelson, Sally, Judy, and Christopher and grandfather of Sarah Nelson. Desmond is also survived by his brother Michael Hemming and his wife Rachel and niece Elizabeth Grange and predeceased by his niece Anne Hemming. He is survived as well by his sisters-in-law Sylvia Eyre, Patricia Danaher and her husband Brian, Maureen Eyre and many nieces and nephews.
Desmond was a kind and generous man with a gentle sense of humour. He was a passionate teacher who taught Physics at the University of Waterloo for 37 years. He was often seen with his wife Jane walking hand-in-hand.
The family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. To attend the visitation and/or funeral mass, please wear a face mask, observe physical distancing, and register (RSVP) by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
