Obituary of Darryl Gueguen

Passed away peacefully at his residence after a short battle with cancer on Sunday October 2, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Dorothy for 56 years. Loving father of Daniel and his wife Susan, Duane and his wife Rose, Kelly and her husband Brad Flood, and Darrin and his wife Judy. Cherished grandfather of Travis, Aaron and his wife Melissa, and Troy, Katelyn and Laura Flood, and Rachel and Ryan; great-grandfather of Ethan and Lilliana Gueguen. Will also be sadly missed by his foster-child Robert Renaud and his children Bobbie and his wife Michelle, and their children Chloe, Mia and Roch; Vanessa and her husband Jeff Portelance, and their children Stéfanie, Calie and Max. Dear brother of Darlene and her husband Bill Munro, and Sharon and her husband John Hansen; brother-in-law of Jim Yantz. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Darryl was a long-time member of St. Agatha RC Church and sat on the finance committee, and was a member of the Waterloo Knights of Columbus. He helped start the Minor Baseball in St Agatha, as well as form the Senior team, the St Agatha Angels as player coach. He helped start the fundraising for the building of the St Agatha Community Centre with the Sno-Mo-Fest 50. He was a board member of the Craigowan Oxford Golf and Country Club sitting on the building committee, Board member of the Waterloo Wellington Mechanical Contractors Association (WWMCA), Member of the Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA) and recipient of the 2001 Mechanical Contractor of the year Building Excellence Award. Predeceased by his parents Lionel and Myrtle Gueguen; sisters Vivian and her husband Harry Phillips, Carol Yantz, and Muriel and her husband Dave Hendel. Friends are invited to share their memories of Darryl with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 1:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha RC Church, 1839 Notre Dame Dr., St. Agatha on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11 a.m., with the Fa. Daniel Lobsinger C.R.,as Celebrant. A reception will immediately follow the mass at the St. Agatha Community Centre. A private family interment will be held at St. Agatha RC Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Agatha Church Building Fund, The Carmel of St. Joseph or Canadian Food for Children, may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519.745.8445.
