Obituary of Christiaan Fredrick Wingelaar

It is with special sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Chris Wingelaar at Grand River Hospital on November 15, 2016. He is survived by Rose, the mother of his children, Andrea and spouse Ryan Stoutt of Seattle, Wash., and Benjamin of Kitchener. He is also survived by his grandson James of Seattle, and sadly missed by sister Mary of Toronto, brother Ron and wife Lynne of Windsor. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Kitchener, London, Toronto, and Windsor. He is also missed by Carol Sefton, loving partner for many years. Predeceased by his parents, Jane and Chris Wingelaar of Windsor, and his infant daughter Bethany. Born in Eindhoven, Holland, he emigrated with his family to Windsor in 1951. After his schooling, he relocated to Kitchener where he was employed by Electrohome, and subsequently the University of Waterloo. In 1989, he began his custom home building business, which he continued until his passing. His many interests included motorcycles, family camping, hiking the Bruce Trail. He was also a talented musician, self-taught on piano and guitar. To celebrate Chris’ life a memorial reception will be held in the Fireside Reception Room of the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King South, Waterloo, on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Condolences for the family and donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
