Marge Gohl

Obituary of Marge Gohl

February 14, 1922 – November 19, 2016 Marge (Armstrong) Gohl, born on Valentine's Day, lived a life loving and being loved by her large family and wide circle of friends. Marge leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Ron, her four daughters, their husbands, and seven grandchildren: Dianne and Mike Cook, Debbie, Scott Henderson, Molly and Lucas; Denise, Craig Piper and Douglas; Vicki, Peter Hodson, Cassia, Justine, James and Evan. Marge was predeceased by her first born, James Douglas (Jim, 1951-1981). Marge was born in Carman, Manitoba, the third of ten children. Life on a farm during the Great Depression made her strong and resilient. After teaching school and working in Winnipeg, Marge joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. During her wartime service, she met the love of her life, Ron. Marge and Ron moved to Ontario following their marriage. After living in Port Perry and Scarborough, they moved to Kitchener-Waterloo in 1960. In addition to caring for her growing family and developing deep, enduring friendships, Marge taught sewing, curled, played bridge and enjoyed traveling. We remember her as the best pie maker and her sewing was handmade not home-made. Marge had an amazing memory and was a wonderful story teller, often entertaining us with tales of her childhood, life during the war and the antics of her five children. Marge constantly said what a lucky life she led. She was smiling to the end. Friends are invited to share their memories of Marge with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. or Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. At Marge’s request there will be no service.
