Obituary of Kenneth Oscar Oswald

Ken passed away peacefully with his beloved family by his side at K-W Campus of Grand River Hospital on Sunday, April 9, 2017, four days before his 89th birthday. Ken is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolly (Marlene) (nee Geisel); his children, James (Janet Stinson), Jane, Robert (Jennifer Clayfield), David (Barbara), Bill (Lisa Sali-Oswald); grandchildren, Madeleine, Hailey, Margaret, Nicholas, Carter, and Eva; sister, Jean Piper; brother, John (Shirley); and brother-in-law, Ed Kubu. Ken will be sadly missed by nieces and nephews, members of the Geisel family, friends, and neighbours. Ken is predeceased by his parents, J. Oscar and Nelda (nee Reist) Oswald; sister, Mae Kubu; and brother-in-law, Roy Piper. Ken was a lifelong resident of Waterloo. He was an accomplished tool and die maker by trade and spent the greater part of his career with Imperial Tobacco in Guelph, retiring in 1993 after 32 years of service. He was capable of building and repairing anything and everything. Ken loved woodworking, had a sizeable green thumb, enjoyed cooking, and pampering family pets. He was a lifelong member and 40-year usher at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Ken’s family would like to acknowledge the first responders and staff at Grand River Hospital for their exceptional care. Ken’s family has honoured his request for cremation. The family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Ken’s life will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.
