Obituary of Douglas William Lacey

Passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday November 1, 2017 at Innisfree House, Kitchener at the age of 89.

Dedicated husband of Evelyn (Kopas) for 64 years. Beloved father of Susan Taylor (Gord) of Waterloo and Darryl Lacey (Karen) of Cambridge. Loving papa of Laura, Jon, Lindsay, Samantha, Kendra and Alexandra. Special great-grandfather of Hadley. Dear brother of David Lacey (Herta) and brother-in-law of Ann Frank and Audrey Good. Uncle Doug will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Harold and Irene Lacey, brother James and sister-in-law Helen Lacey.

Doug worked as a letter carrier for 31 years. He will be remembered for his many musical talents and was actively involved in the Jubilation Male Chorus, the Emmanuel Church Choir and the Happy Harmonica Band.

Many thanks to all of his friends and staff at Beechwood Manor for their care and support during his recent health struggle with leukemia. Special thanks to Dr.  Stevens and the health care team at the Grand River Cancer Centre. Additional thanks to all of the compassionate caregivers at Innisfree House, where Doug was fortunate enough to spend his last weeks.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Doug with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday November 5, 2017 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday November 6th from 10 – 10:45 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m.  Reception to follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.
