Passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 1, 2018 at Forest Heights Long Term Care Centre at the age of 88 years. Loving husband to the love of his life “Bunny”,  Helen Marie Frey (nee Schack) of Kitchener. Dear father of Bob Frey ( Steve Bowden) of Cambridge, Wendy Petsch (John) of Kitchener, and Chris Frey of Kitchener. Loving Grandpa to Melissa ( Garry ), Eric ( Paula), Duane ( Cherie), Diana, Katie (Phil), Jonathan (Asma), Erica (Mac)and Tristan. Great Grandpa to Ethan, Max, Hazel, Kai and Wyatt. Fondly remembered by his brother Lloyd Frey ( Diane), sister in law Carole Frey and son in law Gary Weinstein. Predeceased by his daughter Susan Lehman in 2001and his brother Ronald and sisters in law Bonnie and Judy, along with his parents Armond and Glenna Frey.

Doug was a 50 year employee at Canadian Blower And Forge ( later Howden Fan) where he worked as a Pattern Maker.  He was an accomplished musician and was a member of the Kitchener Musical Society Band for 65 years as principle drummer/percussionist. Doug was a charter member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Kitchener.  Many thanks to the all the staff of Geiger House at Forest Heights LTC for their loving care to their "Dougie" over the past 2 1/2 years".
 

Friends are invited to share their memories of Doug with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday May 6 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church 248 Highland Rd E, Kitchener, on Monday May 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. Pastor Richard Schwass officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation to take place and interment of cremated remains at Williamsburg Cemetery at a later date.
