Obituary of Irene Elizabeth Dernesch
Irene passed away peacefully at Park Lane Terrace in Paris on Thursday, May 31, 2018 in her 91st year.
Irene’s passions were classical music, singing, collecting antiques, and family. She sang with the Menno Singers for many years. Together with her late husband Alfred, Irene owned and operated Century House Antiques in St. Jacobs. She was very generous with her time and had a great love for animals and people in need. Irene was a member of Erb Street Mennonite Church in Waterloo and a former member of St. Jacobs Mennonite Church. She lived her life as a faithful Christian.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Alfred in 2007. She will always be remembered by her loving children Brian Dernesch and wife Terri, Christine van Stuyvenberg and husband Gerald, and grandchildren Nashira, Shannon, Kate, Ariel, Leah and Noah and great grandchildren Naomi and Harley. Sadly missed by her sister Janet Perrin and God daughter Colleen Harper.
Predeceased by her parents Earl Harper and Leah Lichti, sisters Gladys, Ruth, Helen, and brothers Harold and Bob.
Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Irene during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 10 – 10:45 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doug Hatlem officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service and interment at Erb Street Mennonite Cemetery will follow the reception.
