I was so sad to read about Mr. Hardy's passing. (I never used the name Mort as my parents would have killed me.) Mr. Hardy worked for my dad (Roy McDonald) who was a trainer for NorthDown Farms and The Pecconni Family. Mr. Hardy was are "pony boy" and was always around our barn and tack room. He taught me how to ride. I have many fond memories growing up at The Old Woodbine (later Greenwood), Woodbine and of course, my favourite, Fort Erie. He was always kind to me as a child and one of the true"characters" of racing at that time. We were all like "family" rather than just a business. May he rest in peace and playing cards with my dad and all the others from that time.
