Obituary of Pak Njan Tjam

It is with great sadness that the family of Pak Njan TJAM announces his passing on Father’s day, Sunday June 17^th, 2018, at the age of 84 years. Pak will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Yi HU, and their only daughter, Erin Yuet TJAM (Alfred Bruce Arai). Pak will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren, Aaron Jia-Yang, Andrew Jia-Tian, and Alexander Jia-Hao TJAM MacFarlane; Jerrel Paul, Margaret Mary, and Wesley Bruce Appleton Arai. Pak was predeceased by his father De Xing TJAM and mother Hee Njat Kok, and 11 brothers and sisters.

Pak was born in Putussibao,Indonesia, and educated in China. He was a well-respected and much-adored Paediatrician. He graduated from Hunan Medical School in Changsha, China, where he met his first love and wife of 57 years. He practiced medicine in both China and Hong Kong, and retired in Waterloo, Ontario, where he doted on his grandchildren. He became a Christian in his retirement years, and enthusiastically attended the KW Chinese Alliance Church. Pak was a discerning chef with wide-ranging tastes. Though he never pursued it professionally, he was an extremely accomplished tenor, in much demand for parties and social occasions. He also enjoyed many sports, particularly soccer, sprinting, swimming, badminton, and cycling. Dr. Tjam devoted his whole life to his family, and will be deeply missed.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Dr. Tjam’s life will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 1p.m. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery, 335 University Ave, Waterloo. A reception at the Tjam/Arai family home will follow.

我們謹以悲痛之心情, 宣告詹栢源醫生於二零一八年六月十七日父親節離世, 享年八十四歲。詹醫生遺下愛妻胡宜, 獨女詹越 (婿艾博), 六位孫子女: 詹加陽, 詹加天, 詹加昊, 艾杰, 艾瑪, 和艾威。詹醫生父親詹徳興, 母親郭喜月, 及十二位兄姊鑫源,華源,菊香,欣源,近源,悦源,瑞香,耀源,進源,美香,满香及弟爵源, 均先其而去。

詹醫生出生於印尼布突, 在中國受教育, 畢業於中國長沙湖南醫學院，乃一極受尊敬及愛戴之小兒科醫師。在學其間認識其初戀及共渡五十七載之愛妻。其後在中國及香港執業, 退休於加拿大, 貽孫享樂。詹醫生於退休年間最感恩成為基督徒, 熱心參與教會事工。栢源精通廚藝, 八味皆通; 又愛音樂, 雖從未將烹飪與歌唱發展成正業, 但仍為甚受歡迎之廚師男高音。體育方面他亦精於短跑、足球、游泳、羽毛球及自行車。栢源一生愛家庭、重情義, 我們深切懐念。

詹栢源醫生之安息禮拜將於二零一八年六月廿二曰星期五下午一時正假Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo舉行。完禮後, 歡迎隨隊前往墓地Parkview Cemetery, 335 University Ave, Waterloo, 後到 詹府享用美食，睹物思人。
