Obituary of Clifford Douglas Gowing

Of Kitchener, after a long battle with kidney disease, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener at the age of 87 and is in the presence of his Lord and Saviour.

Beloved husband for over 61 years to H. Joyce Gowing (Parkinson).  Loving father to David (Suzanne), Peter, and Paul (Cindy).  Grandfather to Joshua (Lorissa Becker), Cole and Blair.  He is survived by his sister, Jean Bowey of Cambridge; brothers, Ralph Gowing of Barrie, Jack (Day) Gowing of Collingwood. Also lovingly remembered by many nephews and nieces.

Predeceased by his siblings, Grace Gowing, Robert (Jean), Bruce (Kathryn), Ruth Dyck (Edgar), Mary Debus (Gordon), Frank (Ruth); brother-in-law, Elmer Bowey; sister-in-law, June Gowing; his parents, George Wesley and Irene (née Harvey) Gowing; as well as daughter in-law, Penny Gowing (Boehm).

Cliff taught high school at KCI for over 20 years prior to his retirement.  He enjoyed boating and the family cottage on the Bruce Peninsula for the past 40 years.   Cliff was an avid golfer and hockey player until he was 70.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Clifford with his family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 7-9 p.m.  A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Reception will follow the service in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
