Nora Reck

Obituary of Nora Reck

Died peacefully at Innisfree House, Kitchener on July 9, 2018 at the age of 99.  Born in Rochdale, outside Manchester in 1919, Nora was the only child to Sam and Betsy Sheperd. Nora was brilliant; she could engage and debate on any number of topics until the last days of her life. To spend an afternoon with her was to come from that conversation with insightful reference to poetry, world affairs, culture, design, faith, wildlife or cheese.

Nora was devoted to her husband of 58 years, Wilfred, and demonstrated the depth of that love and care every day.  She was proud of her career as a librarian at Wilfrid Laurier University Library.

Nora will be greatly missed by Wilfred and her extended circle of friends, neighbours and family. Friends are invited to share their memories of Nora with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Tuesday July 17, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. The celebration of Nora’s life will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. Tuesday, with Rev. Dr. Mark Lewis officiating.  A reception will immediately follow in the Kuntz House of the funeral home for refreshments.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to honour Nora with a memorial tribute, please consider a donation to Doctors Without Borders http://www.doctorswithoutborders.ca or 1-800-982-7903 or through the funeral home website www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445

“Give me my scallop-shell of quiet, My staff of faith to walk upon, My scrip of joy, immortal diet, My bottle of salvation, My gown of glory, hope’s true gage, And thus I’ll take my pilgrimage.”
