Obituary of Craig William Schneider
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Craig Schneider on Thursday, July 12, 2018, aged 65, after a stoic battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Margaret, his loving son, Alan (Heather Ross), his father, Fred (and companion, Louise) and his sister, Cathy (Mark Smith). He will also be missed by his niece and nephews on both sides of the family.
Predeceased by his mother, Doris.
After completing his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Western University), Craig enjoyed a fulfilling career in the telecommunications industry, first with laser technology, then with satellites and, lastly, radar systems. In all his professional endeavors, Craig earned the respect of others, through his consensus-building approach and his mentoring capabilities.
Craig loved family life, especially annual camping trips. For years, he coached Alan’s soccer teams and volunteered as a Cub leader. In retirement, he took immense pleasure in building an elaborate, landscaped model train system.
Craig will be remembered as a genuine person, with a quick wit and a sincere interest in listening to others. He will be missed.
Cremation has taken place with Tri-City Cremation Services. The family will welcome visitors between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 26 at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel of the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, followed by a reception in the Fireside Room.
