Obituary of Drew Sydney Welker

Born December 19, 1952 in East York Township and passed away in his sleep on July 18, 2018, after a brief battle with bladder cancer. Drew was an avid reader and always had his nose in a book. He accomplished a lot in his younger years, being a region championship diver and championship badminton player. He was chosen for the Canada World Youth Group one-year excursion to Malaysia and made life long contacts and friends with them and attended many reunions. Drew worked afternoon and night shifts for over 35 years at Weston Bread. Drew was able to pass away at home with the help and care of his very good friend, Leo Adams (and partner Brenda). Drew loved his Toronto Maple Leafs and sadly won’t get to watch the next season which is sure to be very exciting! Drew will be missed dearly by his surviving sister Kathy Boettger and her husband Tim Boettger, and by his beloved dog Bailey and Leo’s dog Levi. There will be no service or visitation. Cremation will take place and a private celebration of life held at a later date.
