It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kevin Charles McKechnie-Schreiter on July 23rd, 2018 at the age of 61.
Beloved husband of Marty Schreiter and also remembered by Marty's children Ryan & Sean Schreiter of British Columbia . Loving brother of Suzanne & Craig Harper, Cheryl & Jim Johnston and Carolyn & Leo Ouellette. Treasured Uncle of Crystal, Tammy, Tasha, Tony, Morgan, Jade, Allan, Ryan and Joey. Great Uncle of Ryan, Shane, Colton, Kylie, Rianne, Adrianna, Ellaina, Cruz, Evelyn and Ava Shirley. Godfather to Tony and Ryan. Sadly missed by brothers and sisters-in-law Willard & Evie, Karen, Paul & Eva, Jeffrey & Sue-Ellen, Mary-Anne, David & Sheila and Jamie & Linda.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents John McKechnie Sr. and Shirley Embro, his brother John McKechnie Jr. and his sister Terri-lee.
Although Kevin did not have children of his own he was forever grateful to be able to help raise his nieces and nephews.
Kevin led a very successful career at St. Mary's General Hospital for 25 years and was very well liked by numerous employees in addition to being the recipient of the Rev. Kirby Award. Kevin had a great interest in the royal family. Kevin also enjoyed many hobbies such as travelling, dancing and bingo. He was a collector of antiques, crystal and Christmas Santas. He loved Christmas! But more importantly to him was the love for his family and making memories with them. Kevin loved life and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Friends are invited to share their memories of Kevin with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to take place immediately following the service at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Reception to be held following the burial in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home.
