Our last memory of John was at his 85th Birthday party in October. John, the quintessential party host was in his element, surrounded by family and friends, with a big smile on his face.
As a boss, he was always fair and caring about the people who worked for him. At Manulife in Stevenage, he knew the names of all the staff and, in some cases, the names of their children, too.
He was a wonderful man and good friend to us both, and will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In the months ahead, our thoughts will be with Pauline and all the family.

Dear Pauline and family,
I am so sorry to hear the news of John’s passing. I remember fondly my visit with your family in England. Such kindness was extended me to ensure I had an enriched and memorable visit to London (although I must admit I was happiest on my daily ride in the country with Susan). I will remember his kind eyes and generous spirit always, and of course his wonderful friendship and mentor ship to my Dad, David. Thinking of you during this challenging time.

Dear Pauline, there are not words to express how very sad I was to hear of John's passing. John was a special friend whether it was playing golf, hanging out at a Manulife hospitality suite until the wee hours of the morning or trying to outdo each other by way of Sir Winston's quotes. His friendship of over 50 years is something I have and will always cherish. Heaven is a better place because of John's arrival.
My thoughts and prayers are with You and your family during during this extremely difficult time.

My Dear Pauline and Family,
I'm so very sorry to hear the sad news about John.
You all know what a good and longtime friend John's been to our family, he's always been interested in what we're all up to.
And of course we've loved listening to his stories which he loved to share.
The times that Fred and I spent with you both in South Carolina, France, Florida and Waterloo were always such happy, sometimes boozy!, crazy card playing times which I'll always remember and be grateful for.
I'll never be the tennis player or golfer that John was, but next time I'm on the first tee I'll think of him and how much he loved his round.
John was a kind and generous soul, I'm proud to call him Friend and I'll miss him.
