Obituary of Robert "Bob" James Hallman
Bob passed away peacefully on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Innisfree House at the age of 86.
Much loved husband of Barbara Ann Einwechter (Barb) for 56 years, proud father of Greg (Nancy), Jeananne, and Tim (Heather). A loving Grandpa to Riley, Max, Tyler, Adam, Alexandra, Claire and Dana. Bob will be fondly remembered by brother-in-law Jim (Marilyn) Einwechter, Ted Dopp (Val) and many special nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.
He was predeceased by sisters Alice and Jean and a brother Ralph.
Bob was born in Kitchener to parents Mabel and Clifford Knox and raised by Florence and Morgan Hallman on a farm near New Dundee. In his youth, he enjoyed showing cattle at local fairs and performing at drama festivals. His nickname was RED and he had a great pitching arm for local ball teams. Bob’s career was with the Waterloo County Board of Education for 32 years, serving as a teacher, vice principal and principal in multiple locations throughout the Region of Waterloo. He was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Kitchener, a loyal supporter of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, and an enthusiastic volunteer for the Haiti Mission Society. The family cottage on the Bruce Peninsula was a loved location where many days of family time occurred. A voracious reader and an avid sports fan, his family and a strong faith in God were his passions in life. Our friend and father was a kind and generous man with a wonderful sense of humour. He had the ability to see the good in all situations and always looked at the bright side of life with enthusiastic optimism.
Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Bob during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 247 Westmount Rd. E., Kitchener on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Interment at New Dundee Union Cemetery.
Condolences for the family and memorial donations to Lutheran Hour Minisitries, Faith Lutheran Church, or the Lung Association may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
