Obituary of Jerome "Jerry" William Bester

Passed away peacefully after a struggle with cancer at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener on Monday August 13, 2018, at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Sandra (nee Knorr) for 58 years. Dear father of Brad (Deb) Bester and Heather (Scott) Davidson.  Cherished Papa of Wesley, Josh, Tim and Riley Bester and Shelby (Conor) Davidson-Bruzzese, and Lindsey Davidson.

Will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters, Jim (Audrey) Bester, Bernie (Denise) Bester, Peggy (Roy) Fach, Tom Bester, Pat (Rose) Bester, Mary Alice (Court) Steggles, Brian (Karen) Bester, Darlene (Tom) Donovan, Michael (Darlene) Bester, Danny (Patti) Bester, Mark (Kendra) Bester and Rick (Kim) Bester; brother-in-law Don Pagnutti and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his parents William and Alice (nee Massell) Bester, brothers Bill Bester, Dennis Bester; sisters Bonnie Bester,Theresa Pagnutti and Donna Bester, and Sandra’s parents Harry and Esther (nee Schnarr) Knorr.

Jerry was employed and retired from Kitchener Wilmot Hydro. After his retirement he enjoyed his boat, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and brothers.  He had a great love for his family and was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Jerry with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday August 16, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday August 17, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2 Willow Street, Waterloo at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fred Ludolph officiating.  A reception will immediately follow in the fellowship hall. A private family interment will take place at Williamsburg Cemetery, Kitchener, at a later date.

The family would like to thank all of the people who were involved with Jerry’s care throughout his challenging and courageous journey.
