Obituary of Nicolás Daniel Flamenco Steiner
Born May 30, 2001 at 17 years old, died unexpectedly from sudden cardiac arrest on Thursday August 16, 2018 in Severn County while on a family cottage vacation. Nico was born at home in Kitchener on Krug Street as the second son to joyous parents Cheryl and Ricardo Flamenco Steiner, and older brother Manolo. Throughout childhood, Nico always loved being outside exploring and looking for bugs, whether at the family cottage, the farm, or around his home on Box Grove. He and Manolo spent many summers playing soccer and running around with their dear dog, Khala. As a boy, he expressed his creativity through elaborate drawings and cut out crafts. Later he taught himself guitar after an introduction in a grade 10 course and in the past year, began exploring the skilled sport of archery. As he grew, his love for nature translated into new interests, most recently a passion for fishing. Nico, was such a sweet, gentle spirit. His heartfelt kindness, care and dedication to his friends, family and brotherly love and loyalty to Manolo were evident to all who were blessed to know him. Nico was a student and attended St. David Catholic Secondary School in Waterloo.
Nico is survived by his parents and brother. His grandparents Glenn and Irene Steiner, aunts and uncles Lucy and Julio Sanchez, Jeff Steiner and Annette Reesor, Roger Steiner, Ana Lucila Flamenco de Vilanova (Jaime Vilanova) and cousins Rafael Sanchez, Rebecca (PJ Koop), Sarah (Jono Cullar) and Isaac Steiner, Marco Vilanova his grandfather Ricardo Flamenco Sr. in El Salvador and now joins his Lalita (grandmother) Gloria Coello in peace.
