Obituary of Brian Anthony Sweeny
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Sweeny on Thursday, August 23, 2018.
Loving husband of Mary Sweeny. Dear brother of Dermot (Marie), Paul (Marie Josée), Pauline (Mike) Ronzio, John and Robert. Dear brother in law to Mary’s seven brothers; Robert (Terry), Brian (Karen), Jamie (Martha), John, Paul (Debbie), Mark (Kim), and Scott. Beloved Godfather to Siobhan Sweeny. Beloved uncle to his many nieces and nephews who he cherished and loved. He enjoyed watching them grow and become wonderful, caring adults that he was proud and honoured to be an Uncle to.
Predeceased by his parents Una and Derry Sweeny, his niece France-Anne Sweeny, and Mary’s parents Vaughan and Verna Douglas.
Brian was born in Montreal on May 3, 1955. The first born of Irish immigrants, Brian was a true Canadian who had total love and appreciation for nature and animals. Above all else, Brian adored his one true love, Mary. Brian loved his mother and father, his brothers and sister, his nieces and nephews and the entire Sweeny and Douglas families. While Brian had a steadfast devotion to those he loved, he had a tremendous passion for teaching & mentoring, product design, sales, and marketing with total commitment to creating excellence and trust in each and every relationship. Those who knew Brian know of his love for music, for making others laugh, for beautiful cars, for all things golf and for every fascinating piece of tech he could ever get his hands on. Larger than life, personally and professionally, Brian changed every room he ever entered; no matter what it was, he was ‘all in’. Even through hardships, especially in recent years while suffering physically, he showed great strength and courage and a determination to keep going. He is an inspiration for all of us.
Friends and relatives are invited to share their memories of Brian with his family during memorial visitation on Sunday, September 2, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo.
