Obituary of Gerry Wentzlaff
With hearts full of love and peace, the family of Gerry Wentzlaff announce his passing on Thursday, August 30, 2018, comfortably and with dignity at his residence at the age of 88.
A loving husband to Ila, having recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Devoted dad to Brent (Karen) and Paula (Kris) Sachsenmeier. Proud grandpa to Jasper (Caitlin) and Eliot. He is survived by his brother, Rev. Lloyd (Shirley) Wentzlaff; sister, Grace Faerber; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Foster, Muriel Omand-Naylor; and brother-in-law, Cecil (Jan) Omand. Gerry will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, Rev. Walter Wentzlaff and Eleanora (nee Schiemann); brother, Walter (Kay) Wentzlaff; sister, Norma (Henry) Littke; brothers-in-law, Peter Faerber, Brock Foster and Bob Naylor.
Gerry’s career in education touched many children’s lives. His passion for tennis was a wonderful retirement activity until almost 80 years of age. His strong faith was expressed in many ways including through his church involvement as a leader and teacher and director of the Men’s Chorus.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Gerry with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 322 East Ave. Kitchener, on Monday, September 3, 2018 at 11 a.m., the Rev. Nolan Astley officiating. A reception will take place in the Church Hall following the funeral service.
