Gregory Alexanian

Obituary of Gregory Steven Alexanian

Everyone who knew Greg fell in love with his infectious grin, his huge and generous heart and his completely inappropriate sense of humour. He built friendships with people everywhere he went and loved nothing better than hosting and feeding them. Only Greg could whip up eggs benedict for 64 without breaking a sweat, which he did just weeks ago, at his annual Gregapalooza.

Born and raised in Kitchener, a year ago Greg achieved his dream of moving to the place he loved best, “the cottage”, on the shores of Lynx Lake – the property once forged by his grandparents. It was there that Greg unexpectantly and suddenly passed from this world, at least 40 years too soon. Greg had just turned 53.

He attended Ridley College in St. Catharines where he became legendary for inspiring mischievous fun and developed a worldwide network of friends. Greg had the uncanny ability to bring people together and create memories!

Greg was predeceased by his mother Jane (Friend) in 2006 and his father Armen in 2010. He leaves to grieve his partner of 13 years, Sarah Bromley, his sons, Luke and Ethan, whom he cherished even more than bacon, his 5 siblings; Brian, Jan, Sue, Arisa (Steve Nicholson) and Linda, along with a couple of ex-wives, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins - along with hundreds of friends and now, lonely bartenders around the globe.

Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday September 5th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 527 Bridgeport Road East, Kitchener on Thursday September 6th at 1:00pm with reception to follow.

Cremation has taken place and in following with Greg’s dream, his ashes will be laid to rest at the cottage at a later date.  If desired, donations can be made in Greg’s memory to a charity of your choice.
