Dorothy Renwick

Obituary of Dorothy Renwick

The heavens received an angel in the early hours of September 3, 2018 as Dorothy passed away peacefully in the loving arms of family after a long battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis and declining health in her 89th year.

Born on June 7, 1929 in Happy Adventure, Newfoundland, she moved to Ontario in the 1960’s.

She is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Alfreda Coles, first husband Makenzie Hussey. second husband Lloyd, and son Maxwell Hussey.

Left to cherish fond memories are her loving daughters; Linda (John) Landry, Betty (Rick) Miller, and Pamela Stanberry.

She will be forever remembered by her grandchildren; Jennifer (Graham) Corrie, Yolanda (Mark) Rekzin and Kelly Miller.

Dorothy had two cherished great-grandchildren; Samantha and Lucas.

Her cat Caesar will feel her absence profoundly.

A devoted life-long member of All Saints Anglican Church, Waterloo.  She was truly a woman of great, unwavering faith.

Mom retired from the University of Waterloo Arts Library and had previously been employed at Robinson’s Department Store and several hospitals in the Ottawa area in Administration.

As a mother and wife, mom worked tirelessly to make her home an inviting place of comfort and friendship.  She made room at her table and in her home for anyone, human or animal, that needed shelter, a meal, a smile or laugh.  She was happiest when she had a houseful of family and friends and serving her wonderful meals.

An avid reader and lifelong learner, mom loved to travel, taking many cruises and holidays to exotic destinations.

She was a Master of fine-detailed knitting, especially sweaters that were worn and treasured by many.

Mom was a woman of the earth, and never more content than when she was in her garden planting flowers, fruits and vegetables.  The birds, squirrels and stray cats will greatly miss her tending to their needs of food, water and shelter.

It is with sadness that we bid farewell to our much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, but we take solace that the burdens of this life have come to an end.  Her journey has been long and at times arduous, but her tenacity of spirit, love, compassion, kind and generous nature, deep inner beauty and strength of spirit remain.  We feel blessed to have had her in our lives.

Relatives and friends will be welcomed by her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2 pm for a memorial service.  Reception to follow.  A private family committal service will be held at a later date.
