Obituary of Alice Jean Chapman
After a hard-fought struggle with liver problems and emergency neurosurgery Alice passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener at the age of 68. Missing her deeply are her husband of 44 years Douglas, her children Katherine and Robert and sister Elaine.
Alice was a bright, loving, friendly, generous person with a wonderful sense of humour who was at the same time pragmatic, practical and stubborn with deeply held views on many topics.
Alice was born and grew up in Pittsfield Massachusetts and achieved degrees in Food Science and Plant and Soil Science from the University of Massachusetts followed by an MBA in marketing from York. Alice and Doug met at the University of Massachusetts and married in 1974.
Alice was a loving wife and wonderful mother. She did an amazing job of balancing family, friends and career. She was the glue that held the family together.
Her academic achievements anchored a diversified career in food science and marketing within the food processing and ingredient sectors, teaching at St. Clair College and Ryerson, managing a trade association and partnering in a consulting firm. Alice was the Food Tech Writer and produced copy for companies as far away as Australia.
Alice is predeceased by her mother, Helen Nacorchuk and her father William Nacorchuk both of Pittsfield Massachusetts.
Alice was a great lady who will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by many.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Alice with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 7-9 p.m.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel, on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. Cremation has taken place and interment will occur at a later date.
