Obituary of Bouachanh Xayavaly
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bouachanh Xayavaly on the evening of Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 at the age of 78. She passed away peacefully in the company of loved ones after courageously battling through a lung cancer diagnosis at the start of the year. Bouachanh is survived by her loving children, Chintana, Pisah, Panya, Bouayeung, Bouavong, and Bounmeung; lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Soussamay, Jamie, Souliya, and Kristina; and sweetly missed by her great grandchildren Liam, Lillian, Kai, as well as many more back in Laos. Her loss is also deeply felt by a large, close-knit extended family. She was a beautiful mother, grandmother, friend, and a cherished, respected member of the Laos community here. Bouachanh was born in Houayxay, Laos where she spent most of her first sixty years. After being widowed in the Summer of ‘98, she moved to Canada in June to start a new chapter in her life. She was very nurturing, and that gentle nature meant that she was a natural homemaker. She adored being able to take care and help raise the next generations of her family. If she wasn’t gardening, you could find her socializing and partaking in ceremonial events at the local Buddhist temple in Kitchener.
Bouachanh touched the lives of many, and you are invited to share memories of her during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. South, Waterloo, on Friday, September 14th from 6pm - 9pm. In lieu of flowers we ask that condolences for the family and memorial donations be made to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. The staff and volunteers there were professional, compassionate, and understanding throughout the duration of her battle and always made sure the process was as comfortable as possible.
