I just learned of Herbert's passing, and send my sincere condolences to Aggie and family. Herbert taught my fourth-year entomology class at the University of Waterloo. I remember spending happy Saturday mornings in the autumn of 1976 (until it became too cold!), with him and my fellow classmates collecting insects in the countryside west of Waterloo. At noon each Saturday, Herbert would announce that we were going to the nearby pub in Heidelberg where he would buy us beer and deep-fried mushrooms. What student wouldn't love this?! And his lectures in entomology were so full of knowledge and joy that I subsequently couldn't help myself from pursuing graduate work in entomology! I am so glad that I was able to see Herbert one last time in Waterloo in 2016, and meet Aggie, and thank him for his help in launching my career. He was a wonderful man. Christopher
