Wilfred Reck

Obituary of Wilfred Robert Reck

Wilf died peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his home in Waterloo on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the age of 93.  Before all else, Wilfred was inseparable from Nora (passed away on July 9, 2018), his wife of 58 years. Their love and partnership inspired and taught all those around them how to be hospitable, intellectually curious, supportive to friends and neighbours and to engage in the community.

Wilf was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed bird watching, learning to fly, bowling and lunch with the boys. He made fudge, played Lego, loved a fine single malt, and enjoyed a turkey dinner with his family, the Kelly’s, who were near and dear to his heart. Wilf was committed to his community and loved his volunteer work at Grand River Hospital and the Grand River Cancer Centre. Wilf dedicated several mornings a week for the past 32 years to making life better for patients, visitors and staff. Wilf was a long-time member and elder at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kitchener

Wilf will be missed by an extended circle of family, friends, neighbours and colleagues. A memorial visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral service to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 11:00  a.m.  A reception will immediately follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to honour Wilf with a memorial tribute, please consider a donation to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre where Wilf spent many happy days; this may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
